Techwell Announces Highly Integrated TW2834 Four Channel Video Controller Solution for CCTV Security Surveillance Systems
SAN JOSE, Calif. (April 7, 2005)- Techwell, Inc. a leading provider of semiconductor solutions to the CCTV Security Surveillance industry, today announced the release of the TW2834 Four Channel Video Decoder and Controller. The TW2834 integrates four major blocks into one chip including four high quality
NTSC/PAL video decoders, dual color display controllers, dual video encoders and an advanced OSD (On Screen Display). In addition, the TW2834 embeds an ITU 656 interface, Channel ID encoder and decoder, and Motion Detection circuitry. With built in
anti-aliasing filters and high quality comb filters to reduce cross-noise, TW2834 is an ideal high performance and cost effective solution for Digital Video Recorders
(DVR) and Quad/Multiplexers.
Leveraging Techwell's rich portfolio of security surveillance IC product solutions, the TW2834 is another step forward in solving the growing demand for video security systems. Current security customers already include industry leaders such as Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Hitachi,
Everfocus, Yoko, AVTech, IDIS, Hitron, Argus, Samsung, and LG.
Among its many features, the TW2834 supports full real-time D1 recording, adds channel ID information to the video stream for auto decoding and display during playback, and includes a five layer graphic overlay function that displays character/bitmap for
OSD, single box, 2D array box, and mouse pointer. In addition, the TW2834 contains a simple interface to support up to 16 channel systems using a cascading connection.
Amess Kwak, Head of R&D for Security Products at Techwell stated,
"We are very pleased to aggressively expand our product line with the introduction of the TW2834. We believe that the TW2834 is the most feature rich and cost-effective front end solution for 4, 9 and 16 channel Digital Video Recorders and
Quad/Multiplexers in the market today."
About the TW2800 Family
The TW2834 joins Techwell's existing TW2800 family of solutions targeting security applications. Techwell's existing security IC solutions include the TW2804, a four in one video decoder with motion detection and horizontal and vertical scaling, and TW2824, a cost effective four channel video controller for Quad and Digital Video Recorder
(DVR) systems.
The TW2804 contains four 10-bit A/D and proprietary digital gain/clamp controllers and utilizes proprietary techniques for separating luminance & chrominance to reduce both cross luminance and cross-chrominance artifacts. The high performance dual scalers in each channel offer two differently scaled video outputs with 54MHz
ITU-R BT.656 format for security system design. Four built-in motion detectors also increase the feature set of any security system.
The TW2824 utilizes all the features of the TW2804 and adds a flexible video display controller including QUAD and MUX functions. The TW2824 also has excellent graphic overlay function which displays character/bitmap, box and mouse pointer. The TW2824 contains two video encoders with four 10bit Digital-to-Analog converters for providing 2 composite or S-video outputs.
Pricing and Availability
Techwell has begun sampling the TW2834 with customers. Manufactured by TSMC in Taiwan, the TW2834 utilizes a 208-pin PQFP package and is aggressively priced in quantities of 10K. Please contact your local sales representative for more information
